Real Wedding – Sharon & Harold’s Luxe Rustic Celebration at Twelve Pillars, Southwest WA

There are some weddings that you carry with you long after the day is over. Sharon and Harold’s early April celebration at Twelve Pillars was one of those rare, beautiful days where everything just felt right. Despite the rain clouds that lingered above us, the atmosphere was anything but gloomy. It was a day filled with laughter, heartfelt tears, deep love, and a whole lot of dancing.

As a wedding photographer based in Southwest WA and Perth, I’ve seen my fair share of magical venues, but there’s something truly special about Twelve Pillars. With its expansive views, warm rustic textures, and elegant charm, it perfectly matched Sharon and Harold’s vision of a wedding that felt both luxurious and grounded in nature.

A Couple So Deeply in Love

From our first interactions, I could tell that Sharon and Harold were going to be a joy to work with. They’re the kind of couple that makes you believe in love all over again. Warm, connected, and completely in sync with one another. Their wedding wasn’t just about the two of them (though they shone bright all day long); it was also a celebration of all the people who’ve supported their journey.

The rain that fell throughout the day somehow added to the magic. Instead of causing stress, it gave the whole celebration a dreamy, intimate feel. Guests wrapped themselves in warmth, gathered closely, and let themselves be fully present. And most importantly, nothing could wipe the smiles off Sharon and Harold’s faces.

A Ceremony Full of Emotion

The ceremony took place in the most stunning setting, with a floral aisle that felt like it belonged in a high-end bridal magazine. Beautiful arrangements in soft, romantic tones lined the path, creating a rich, luxe feel that contrasted so beautifully with the rustic textures of the venue.

Their vows were incredibly moving, spoken through tears, smiles, and a few sweet laughs. I’ve been behind the lens for a lot of ceremonies, but there was something so powerful and sincere about the way these two spoke to each other. You could feel every word in the hearts of everyone present.

Speeches That Hit Home

As the reception began, the love in the room only grew stronger. One by one, family and friends stood to speak, sharing stories that had everyone laughing one minute and crying the next. The emotional speeches revealed just how loved and respected Sharon and Harold are. Not only as a couple but as individuals. You could sense the gratitude radiating from their guests; for being part of the day, for knowing these two people, and for witnessing their next chapter begin.

It’s always a privilege to photograph those moments. The unfiltered emotions, the little reactions, the way Sharon’s hand would gently rest on Harold’s arm during a particularly moving toast.

It’s those details that tell the real story.

A Dance Floor to Remember

Once the formalities wrapped up, the celebration exploded into one of the most fun dance floors I’ve seen in a while. The rain, now barely a thought, was replaced by incredible music, wild moves, and the kind of joy that only comes from being surrounded by your favourite people.

As a photographer, this is where I thrive; capturing candid laughter, kids twirling under fairy lights, aunties pulling cousins into spontaneous dance battles, and that one friend who always thinks they can moonwalk (sometimes successfully, sometimes… less so).

The Moment I’ll Never Forget

There was one particular moment that felt like a scene from a romantic film. I took Sharon and Harold up to the top paddock which is a place where the hills roll gently into the distance and the skies feel extra big. The rain was falling lightly, casting a soft silver light across the landscape. And there they were, standing close, laughing together like no one else in the world existed.

That embrace, in the middle of the rain, was pure magic. It captured everything about the day: their love, the beauty of the venue, and the simple joy of being together. Come rain or shine.

Why Twelve Pillars Was the Perfect Backdrop

Twelve Pillars offered the ideal combination of luxury and laid-back charm. Its rustic aesthetic gave the whole day a sense of authenticity and groundedness, while the styling choices and floral details elevated the space into something truly elegant. It’s a venue that allows couples to make it entirely their own, and Sharon and Harold did exactly that.

As a photographer, I loved working with the natural textures, open spaces, and ever-changing skies. Whether we were indoors among the timber tones or outside capturing sweeping views, every corner of Twelve Pillars felt photogenic and full of personality.
